Perché ricordare, per che cosa celebrare - The Reasons to Remember and the Purposes to Celebrate

“Vorrei riflettere con voi sul 150º anniversario della fondazione dell’istituto, cercando di approfondire, da una parte, le ragioni della memoria, il perché ricordare, e, d’altra parte, proporre alcuni obiettivi per la celebrazione che facciamo; cioè, per che cosa, per quali motivi celebrare”. Così inizia la riflessione di P. Manuel Augusto. Questa riflessione è stata offerta alla curia generalizia dei Missionari Comboniani a Roma come tema della giornata di ritiro il giorno 8 marzo. P. Manuel Augusto elabora quattro atteggiamenti di fare memoria della storia dell’Istituto: il primo atteggiamento è di avvicinarsi al tempo e alle circostanze della storia dell’Istituto; poi, entrare nel kairòs della nascita dell’Istituto stesso, nella grazia carismatica che è stata donata a Daniele Comboni per la fondazione; il terzo atteggiamento è di ravvivare in noi il senso dell’eredità che Daniele Comboni ci ha lasciato; infine, favorire la conoscenza della nostra storia, nel senso di capire i traguardi raggiunti, per situarci nel contesto in cui adesso ci troviamo.

“I would like to reflect with you on the 150^th anniversary of the founding of the institute, seeking to understand, on the one hand, the reasons for the memory, why to remember, and, on the other hand, propose some objectives for our celebration; that is, for what reason to celebrate.” Thus begins the reflection of Fr. Manuel Augusto. This reflection was offered to the members of the General Curia of the Comboni Missionaries in Rome for the day of retreat on the 8^th of March. Fr. Manuel Augusto emphasises four attitudes to commemorate the history of the Institute: the first attitude is to get closer to the time and circumstances of the history of the Institute; then, enter the kairòs of the birth of the Institute itself, seen in the perspective of the charismatic grace that was given to Daniel Comboni for the foundation; the third attitude is to rekindle in us the sense of the inheritance Daniel Comboni has left us; finally, to promote the knowledge of our history, in the sense of understanding the goals achieved, to situate ourselves in the context where we are now.
