Urgenze e sfide missionarie dei Comboniani nel mondo d’oggi -Urgent Needs and Challenges of the Comboni Missionaries in Today's World

Questa relazione è stata presentata durante il workshop sul Piano del Comboni (Roma, 15-19 Settembre 2014). Tale presentazione ha lo scopo, come indica il titolo, di definire e precisare problematiche dell’Istituto comboniano ancora ambigue – lasciate, perciò, ad interpretazioni soggettive – oppure ancora incompiute nella realizzazione pratica. Le problematiche da precisare, precedute una breve introduzione storica che ne fonda lo sviluppo, sono le seguenti: la ‘durata’ dell’impegno missionario e l’identità dei ‘poveri e abbandonati’; la necessità di attenzione alla storia e alla lettura dei segni dei tempi; la missione come evento di comunità e di collaborazione. Inoltre la relazione sottolinea due sfide per l’autorità dell’Istituto: favorire il dialogo tra le varie culture che lo compongono, in vista di una vera interculturalità, e favorire il collegamento e la messa in comune delle varie esperienze di missione – la quale ha sempre più un carattere poliedrico e contestuale – perché queste diventino patrimonio comune e condiviso.

This report was presented during the workshop on the Plan of Comboni (Rome, 15-19 September 2014). This presentation is aimed, as the title indicates, to define and clarify issues of the Comboni Institute which are still ambiguous – left, therefore, to subjective interpretation – or still incomplete in their practical implementation. The issues in this report, introduced by a brief historical outline giving reason to their development, are the following: the 'duration' of the missionary commitment and the identity of the 'poor and most abandoned'; the need to pay attention to history and the signs of the times; mission considered as an event of communion and collaboration. The report also highlights two challenges to the Institute’s authority: the need to promote dialogue between the various cultures within the Institute to build up a real intercultural atmosphere, and foster links among and common sharing with the various experiences of mission – which has an increasingly multi-faceted and contextual character – so that these experiences become a common and shared heritage of all the Comboni Missionaries.
