Documento finale del Sinodo dei Vescovi sui Giovani, la Fede ed il Discernimento Vocazionale (27 ottobre 2018)

Il documento finale del Sinodo dei vescovi 2018 sui giovani è diviso in tre parti. L’episodio dei discepoli di Emmaus è il filo conduttore del documento. “Camminava con loro” è il titolo della prima parte e guarda al contesto in cui vivono i giovani, evidenziandone punti di forza e sfide. La seconda parte ha come titolo “Si aprirono i loro occhi”: è la parola incisiva e decisiva, autorevole e trasformante che il Signore rivolge ai viandanti ma anche ai giovani d’oggi, che sono uno dei “luoghi teologici” in cui il Signore ci fa conoscere alcune delle sue attese e sfide per costruire il domani. Infine la terza parte: “Partirono senza indugio”; “Dall’ascolto della Parola”, si legge nel testo, “si passa alla gioia di un incontro che riempie il cuore, dà senso all’esistenza e infonde energia nuova. I volti si illuminano e il cammino riprende vigore: è la luce e la forza della risposta vocazionale che si fa missione verso la comunità e il mondo intero. Senza indugio e senza paura i discepoli ritornano sui loro passi per raggiungere i fratelli e testimoniare il loro incontro con Gesù risorto.”

The final document of the 2018 Synod of Bishops on youth is divided into three parts. The episode of the disciples of Emmaus is the leitmotif of the document. “He walked with them” is the title of the first part and looks at the context in which young people live, highlighting their strengths and challenges. The second part is entitled “Their eyes were opened”: it is the incisive and decisive word, authoritative and transforming that the Lord addresses to the wayfarers but also to the young people of today, who are one of the “loci theologici” in which the Lord lets us know some of his expectations and challenges for building tomorrow. Finally the third part: “They left without delay”; “From listening to the Word”, we read in the text, “we move on to the joy of an encounter that fills the heart, gives meaning to existence and infuses new energy. The faces light up and the journey resumes its vigor: it is the light and the strength of the vocational response that becomes mission towards the community and the whole world. Without delay and without fear the disciples return on their steps to reach the brothers and witness their meeting with the risen Jesus.”
