“After its independence, South Sudan started making headlines again in 2013, as a result of a new civil war caused by the power struggle between Dinka-dominated and Nuer-dominated factions of the new government; a conflict, this time, that runs entirely along ethnic and not religious lines”. “On May 12, 2015, the editors of ARIA (Annual Review of Islam in Africa) had a conversation on these issues with Christian Carlassare, an Italian Catholic missionary of the Comboni institute who has lived and worked in the region of Upper Nile (South Sudan) for over ten years. This conversation has resulted in the in-depth analysis of religion in South Sudan.”
