ISLAMIC EXTREMISM: CAUSES, CHARACTERISTICS, DIVERSITY, AND CHALLENGES - L'ESTREMISMO ISLAMICO: CAUSE, CARATTERISTICHE, DIVERSITA' E SFIDE

The latest terrorist attacks in Paris and in Bamako (Mali) have drawn, once again, the attention on Islamic extremist groups. They have spread death across the Middle East, Africa and now at the heart of Europe. We look at the phenomenon:  causes, characteristics, diversity and challenges. Islamic extremism is characterized by a certain diversity between groups; however, there are certain things, which run like common denominators through all these groups.

The author has been working in a Muslim environment for a good number of years and has a deep knowledge of Islam.  

Gli ultimi attacchi terroristici a Parigi e a Bamako (Mali) hanno attirato ancora una volta l'attenzione sui gruppi estremisti islamici. Essi hanno sparso morte in tutto il Medio Oriente, in Africa e ora al cuore dell'Europa. Guardiamo al fenomeno: le cause, le caratteristiche, la diversità e le sfide.
